Whim v1.40 — The Best Just Gets Better

Hi everyone, do I have quite an update for you. It’s been a long time coming and I’m proud to say it’s finally here. Whim v1.40. Just when you thought Whim couldn’t get any better, Whim extends the lead over its competitors with version 1.40. It’s going to be a long post, so strap in, because I’ve got a lot to tell you. The full changelog will be at the bottom of this post if you want to skip to it, though I highly suggest reading the entire post.

Industry-Leading Efficiency

As you are all aware, Whim has always been the fastest and most efficient collar system out there. The performance is unmatched by any other and the efficiency is leagues ahead of the nearest competitor. With an industry-leading 11 total scripts while matching, and in some cases, exceeding the features of its competitors, Whim has disproven the traditional notion that a collar system must be script-heavy and laggy in order to be feature-rich. v1.40 further pushes the limits of LSL.

While this update is focused on the huge upgrade to Whim’s avatar management system, more on that below, I’ve also taken the time to further optimize Whim. With v1.40, Whim is now only 10 total scripts. Yes, you read correctly. Whim is gaining features, while simultaneously decreasing script count and memory usage.

Total Script Count

As you can see by the chart above, not only does Whim have less than half of the total scripts of the competition, but the new Whim v1.40 further extends the lead over the competition by lowering the script count to a total of 10 scripts, beating Whim v1.376 by 1.

Total Memory Used

As you can see by the chart above, Whim v1.376 uses only 704kb of memory, while the nearest competitor, N°9 ‘Premium’ Series 600, a product that costs 2,500L, uses a whopping 1500kb of memory. Whim v1.40 further extends this insurmountable lead by dropping the memory usage to a total of 640kb, that’s a whole 64kb less than Whim v1.376!

Performance Improvements

It wouldn’t be a Whim update without some good old performance improvements. I’ve done a lot of optimizations to bring you a couple of improvements thie time around.

  1. I’ve cleaned up a lot of legacy follow code, improving the memory usage in the Follow engine by ~10%

  2. I’ve also done various optimizations to the other scripts, improving the memory usage by about ~5% per script

Custom Relay Safeword

The Relay now has a custom safeword you can use when you need to get out of a sticky situation. You can customize the safeword to be anything you want. When you need to use it, simply say the safeword in channel 1 and the Relay will instantly release you and temporarily block the object that was grabbing you for 30 seconds, to give you time to escape if you need to.

Closet — The Ultimate Avatar Management System

As I’m sure most of you are skipping down to this particular section, let’s get right to it. I have upgraded the Forms system in Whim and it is now called Closet. It is built upon a brand new, built-from-scratch engine that fully utilizes Whim’s performance to make it easy to manage your whole avatar, from outfits, to bondage gear, to accessories. Let’s do a deep dive into all the new features.

Outfits

Each Form now supports an unlimited amount of outfits! This will allow you to have different forms for each body and each Form will have its own wardrobe of outfits available to it. When changing Forms, if the Form you’re changing to has outfits setup, you will now get a prompt to choose an outfit so Whim will change your Form and also apply the outfit as well when changing. You can also change outfits individually without having to change your entire Form each time!

Gear

Each Form now supports an unlimited amount of bondage gear as well! You can setup gags, masks, hoods, or whatever else you want for each individual Form. When entering the Gear menu, you will be presented with a list of all the Gear items you have setup for the Form you’re currently wearing. Selecting an item will give you the option to attach or remove it.

Custom

You will not be limited just to the preset options, either. You can create an unlimited amount of custom item categories for each individual Form. You can setup different categories, such as Hair, Shoes, Hats, etc. When you open the Custom menu, you will be presented with a list of all custom categories you have created for the Form you’re currently wearing. Selecting a category will present you with a list of all items inside that category. Selecting an item will detach every other item inside that particular category and then attach the one you selected.

New RLV Locking Engine

Closet now has three individual RLV locks, each corresponding to a different section of your avatar. This allows much more flexibility when it comes to locking items. You have three locks:

  1. Form lock: This lock will prevent attaching or detaching any items inside the folder of the Form you are currently wearing, not including the sub-folders.

  2. Outfit lock: This lock will prevent attaching or detaching the currently worn outfit, it will also lock the Form, and any Custom items.

  3. Gear lock: This lock will prevent attaching or detaching any Gear items.

New Stripping Engine

On top of everything else included in Closet, it also has a brand-new Stripping Engine which utilizes Whim’s superior performance and efficiency to making stripping items from the user a breeze. When you open the Strip menu, it scans the user and presents you with a menu listing every attachment they are wearing. Selecting an attachment will forcibly strip it from the user, re-scan the user, and present you with the menu again, all within 1 second. Unlike other Stripping systems, Whim’s Stripping Engine updates in real-time, to always give you an accurate list of attachments the user is wearing. If the Strip failed, the item will remain in the list. If it was stripped successfully, it will be removed from the list. This is all made possible because Whim scans the user in real-time.
